Kamilla Kadar wins double Finnish Championship – MBF juniors are in a happy mood at the Oulu 15-year-old Finnish Championship
In the Finnish Championship for 15-year-olds organized by Oulu OPT-86, MBF's cheerful 11-person junior team competed against almost 50 players. Kamilla Kadar won gold in the singles and doubles with a fantastic performance, as well as bronze in the team competition with Paola Estrada Noso and Smashin With Hai Nguyen in mixed doubles. MBF's young boys' juniors surprised with their lively play, which bodes well for the upcoming Finnish Championships.

MBF girls Kamilla Kadar and Paola Estrada Noso won all three pool games and were the first to advance. In the semifinals, they faced Jiali Lu and Arina Bril from OPT-86. Before the doubles, the score was 1-1. In the doubles, MBF girls came back from a 0-2 deficit in the fifth set, but unfortunately it went 9-11 to the Oulu team. Kamilla tied the score at 2-2 by beating Jiali, but Arina's playing style proved too difficult for Paola and MBF did not make it to the final. The bronze medal for MBF girls was a great achievement.
Two of the three MBF boys' teams advanced from the pools. The first team from MBF faced the class winner OPT-86 and the second team from MBF faced the silver team PT-75. Thus, both of our teams were eliminated in the first playoff games. Our third boys' team defeated the third team from OPT-86 in the consolation game.
All our young boys' teams were underdogs in many games and were very close to surprise victories. Even games against much higher rated players is already a great and encouraging achievement in itself. MBF has really promising junior players who can go far with systematic training.

We are proud of our players who participated in such a big tournament for the first time and competed in a high-level event.. – club coordinator Ildiko Kadar.

Kamilla convincingly won the Finnish Girls' Championship in both singles and doubles. In the doubles final, she defeated the number one seed Jaimielee Enriquez 3-1. In the doubles match, she and Jiali Lu from OPT-86 did not lose a set. In the final, Arina and Taisiia Bril from OPT-86 kept them tight, but still failed to win a set.
Kamilla added a bronze medal in mixed doubles to her medal haul, together with Smash's Hai Nguyen. Overall, the weekend's total was two golds and two bronzes.
Great performance from Kamilla!

In addition to coach Ibrahim Sen and club coordinator Ildiko Kadari, the MBF junior team was led by Jarkko Lundström and Sampsa Koponen, who helped with the arrangements and encouraged our players.
Special mentions from MBF junior games:
- Linus Lundström and Magnus Jackson held OPT-86's Pyry Siveni and Otso Vahtola in check in the quarterfinals of the doubles. Up to 11-13 in the fourth set. Promising game. The boys also had good wins and tight games in the team competition against PT Jyväskylä.
- Luca Solapuro defeated TuPy's Jasper Haapala, who was over 200 points higher than him, 3-0 with a fantastic game and advanced to the next round in his own pool.
- Joona Rauvola had a great fight against OPT-86's Pyry Siven, who was over 900 points higher, winning the set and leading in the fourth, but the game turned in favor of the Oulu player.
- Miko Koponen struggled against OPT-86's Dennis Trofimov, but was forced to surrender 7-11 in the fifth set.
- Four MBF players competed in the consolation round for runners-up. It was won by Leon Blomberg, who defeated Magnus Jackson 12-10 in the fifth set in a tight match.
- The consolation prize for third-time players was won by MBF's Tengo Nakamura.
- Upi Valkeapää had good set wins over Lukas Sauko from Tupy, who was over 600 points higher, and his teammate Magnus Jackson. Upi had great defensive rallies and played with good momentum the whole time.
- Paola played well in the girls' consolation category, defeating PTS Sherwood's Milana Shmyalina 3-1 to take silver.
- Anton Päivärinta got good playing experience and considering that he has only been playing table tennis for a few months, winning two games is an excellent achievement.
We are really happy with the enthusiasm and fighting spirit shown by our players in the Finnish Championship tournament. -summarized coach Ibrahim Sen.
