MBF seniors receive European Championship medals

MBF seniors did well at the European Championships in Novi
in Sad, Serbia. Marina Donner won two gold medals and Jorma Lahtinen
took bronze in singles. In addition, Ildiko Kadar won the consolation tournament
in doubles.


Marina Donner successfully defended her gold medal in both singles and
and in the doubles in the 40-year-old category. Donner defeated the Hungarian in the final
Timea Ambrusin 3-2 in the sets. Donner led the match throughout, 1-0 and 2-1 in the sets and
won the fifth set 11-6.

I am happy that I managed to defend my championship. This was for now.
The most difficult victory so far. There are new, tough opponents in the class, Marina
says.


In doubles, she defended her victory together with Sweden's Sofia Westholm.

Jorma Lahtinen was close to reaching the final in the 55-year-old men's doubles
with his German partner Piotr Frackowiak. They won seven matches and
put the “home team” Basaric/Djordjevic in a tight five-set battle, but

among.


Ildiko Kadar won the consolation tournament in the 40-year-old doubles series
with Romanian Cecilia Gaspar. In doubles, Kadar reached the top 16

Andrei Räisänen reached the quarterfinals of the consolation tournament in the 50-year-old category.
In the 45-year-old doubles, Räisänen and Teemu Oinas played the best of 32
among.


Over 5,000 players participated in the competitions.
