Miikka O'Connor returns to MBF

Mejlans Bollförening gets a much-needed boost to its Finnish Championship team when Miikka O'Connor returns to the club after spending 12 years elsewhere.

It feels great to go back to where it all began, says O'Connor, who has spent the last two seasons living and playing in Barcelona, ​​Spain. I will continue in Spain, but I will reduce the games there so much that I can also participate in the Finnish Championship.

Miikka is one of many MBF juniors who have sought success at a higher level as adults, when there was no opportunity for this in MBF. As a junior, Miikka won the Finnish Cup in 2009 and has since won medals in all junior categories. He won the Finnish Under-17 Championship gold in both 2013 and 2014.

As an adult, Miika's greatest achievements are winning the Finnish Championship in 2017 and 2021 (PT-75), winning the Finnish Championship bronze medal in singles in 2019 and the Finnish Championship silver medal in 2020, and winning three Finnish Championship gold medals in doubles with Otto Tennilä.

Miikka O'Connor is part of the Pongfinity trio, which also includes Emil Rantatulkkila is a member of MBF. Together with Pongfinity, MBF has organized Finland's largest table tennis competition, the international Pongfinity Cup 2025 and 2026, and with the club transfer, the connection between Pongfinity and the club will be further strengthened.
