Action plan 1.6.2024 – 31.5.2025
Objectives
Good and developing junior activities are traditionally the main goal of MBF. The goal in 2024-25 is to get 20 new juniors into MBF activities – at the end of the financial year there would be 50 junior members. Our goal is also to offer versatile activities to adult members who are interested in table tennis and thus increase MBF's team spirit. During the financial year, the aim is to create a hobby and competition path for the club's members. The goal is also to achieve medal positions in the Finnish Junior, Adult and Senior Championships.
There are two specific goals: to be among the top four in the Finnish Championship and to organize an imaginative and competitively excellent Pongfinity Cup.
Recruitment, coaching and camp activities
We continue to invest in recruiting the youngest children aged 7-13 from both Swedish and Finnish-speaking schools in cooperation with the City of Helsinki. We will organize Easysport table tennis summer camps on 3-7.6, 17-20.6 and 5-8.8.2024 in Ruskeasuo for 60-70 girls and boys aged 7-12, and we also hope to get new enthusiastic young people involved in the club's activities.
In 2023 and 2024, MBF received support from the Ministry of Education and Culture (OKM) for a two-year “The stadium’s junior ping-pong is in good shape” project, which aims to recruit 30 new young players to MBF in 2024-25 in cooperation with schools and youth centers and using social media in a creative way. With the support of the Urlus Foundation and the City of Helsinki, camp activities are being activated, including by holding MBF's own junior camp and a "mimi camp" once every six months in cooperation with other clubs in the Helsinki region. MBF juniors also participate in camps organized by others — especially FTTA.
MBF organizes an advanced junior coaching group on Wednesdays from 17-19 pm in collaboration with PT Espoo, TiP-70 and PTS Sherwood. MBF's most advanced juniors also train with PT Espoo juniors on Thursdays. A beginner junior group is held with the Finnish Hobby Model on Wednesdays from 15-17 pm. With the support of the Ministry of Education, Culture and Sports, a new group for girls will be established and the groups established in 2023-24 (beginner boys and girls and family table tennis) will be continued. In addition, MBF coaches will lead regular training sessions for juniors and adult amateurs. There are a total of 14 hours of supervised junior coaching and 3 hours of adult amateur coaching per week.
Competitive activity
In the 2024-25 season, MBF aims to be among the top four in the championship series and maintain its place in the 1st division (one team) and the 2nd division (two teams). The goal is also to raise one team from the 3rd division to the second. For our juniors, participating in division matches is an important way to practice table tennis. In total, MBF has about 14 teams in the series from the 6th division to the championship series.
The goal is to win medals – including championships – in the Finnish championships for adults, juniors and seniors. This is realistic after new top players moved to MBF. The club will continue to support the competitive activities of juniors and championship players in the Finnish championships.
Together with PTS Sherwood, MBF will organize four novice competitions during the 2024-25 financial year.
One way to develop junior competition is to organize national competitions. In 2025, MBF will organize an international GP competition — the Pongfinity Cup — instead of the Arf Cup, which is intended to attract a significantly larger number of participants than any competition previously organized by MBF. This is a significant investment and the intention is to make the tournament a memorable, memorable event, both in terms of atmosphere and competition.
Social activities
The club activities offer our members the opportunity to meet each other and practice. In the 2024-25 season we will continue “Kingis” games on Mondays in the Stadium table tennis hall. We will continue to organize MBF's joint coaching and game evenings, which everyone can participate in. We will also organize a “Friends of MBF” event for the first time.
A clear hobby path and MBF values will be created to guide the club's activities. They will be reviewed at appropriate occasions, such as the annual meeting.
Communication
MBF's website (mbf.fi) also needs to be further developed, especially so that multilingual communication is easier and that it can be better linked to social media, including MBF's Tiktok and Facebook pages.
Equipment
MBF will continue to sell affordable training shirts and plans to purchase competition shirts with the MBF logo for all players at their own expense. If necessary, MBF will purchase more training rackets. Cooperation with the Pingiskeskus will continue.
Administration
We will continue to modernize and streamline MBF's administration based on the revised rules in 2022. The functions of the web-based management system (sporttis.net) will continue to be utilized for communication between members (email, newsletter). Sporttis.net also supports MBF's coaching activities.
Economic
In early 2024, MBF received grants from the City of Helsinki, the Urlus Foundation, and the Ministry of Education and Culture to expand the club's junior work. EUR 20 of the support will be used during the financial period 000 June 1.6.2024-31.5.2025 May XNUMX. The club is also actively seeking support for the next financial period.
The budget of €73 for the 000-2024 financial year is approximately €25 higher than the previous year, because
- Participation in the Finnish Championship costs approximately €7000;
- table fees in Ruskeasuo will increase by 100% for adults by decision of the City of Helsinki;
- FTTA almost doubled the entry fees for the series;
- MBF will organize supervised junior training sessions for an additional 4 hours per week; and
- Due to the additional operations starting at the stadium in the fall of 2025, more tables will be in use (a total of 180 table hours per week) and thus costs will also increase somewhat.
With the income from organizing the Pongfinity Cup (target €7000 after expenses) and the Friends of MBF campaign (target €5000), the increase in membership fees and hall rentals can be kept as small as possible. Their structure will be simplified1 as follows:
| Membership fee/year (paid in September) | €125 |
| Hall fee/year (paid in January) | €125 |
The coaching fee for juniors will be increased by 20 euros per half year from 80 euros to 100 euros, as the number of supervised coaching sessions will be increased. The coaching fee for amateurs will remain unchanged at 150 euros (2 training sessions per week), with the change that those who only participate in one training session will pay 100 euros. The joining fee for new members will be increased to 30 euros, which will give the member an MBF training shirt and an FTTA license for those under 13 years of age. The membership fee for members outside the capital region is budgeted to be 50 euros. Likewise The supporting membership fee (Friend of MBF) is budgeted to be at least 50 euros per member.

Competitions, series and events
MBF players successfully participated in several regional and national table tennis competitions in 2023-24.
Kamilla Kadar won silver in the Finnish Championships for 12 and 13 year olds and together with Sisu Sammalkorpi won the Finnish Championships for 15 year olds. Andreas von Köhler won bronze in the 15 year old boys' doubles. MBF players Magnus Jackson, Linus Lundström Luca Salopuro and Upi Valkeapää were successful in the consolation series and Sam Londen won the consolation series silver in the 15 year old singles. Andreas von Köhler and Sisu Sammalkorpi were in the quarter-finals of the 13 and 15 year old Finnish Championships and Sisu was in the quarter-finals of the Finlandia Open. MBF players also did well and received many placements in the beginners' championships in March 2024.
Kamilla won bronze medals in the 15-year-old singles and silver in the 15-year-old doubles, as well as in the 13-year-old team competition with Paola Estrada Noso. Kamilla was also the best in the junior TOP competitions played in Ruskeasuo in December 2023 in the singles and cadet girls and won the Finlandia Open Junior 13-year-old girls category.
In January 2024, Ildiko Kadar and Peter Eriksson won the Finnish Championship gold for 40 and 80 year old veterans, Matti Vainio 65 years bronze. Ildiko also won bronze in the 40 years mixed doubles with Andrei Räisänen. lldiko won the 40 years women's Top-8 in February 2024. Thomas Hallbäck and Matti Vainio won bronze in the Finnish Championship for 60-year-old veterans in November 2024.
Under the leadership of Måns Holmberg and Jon Eriksson, MBF organized the A-class and team Finnish Championships in November 2023 and the Arf Cup in May 2024. At the same time, MBF organized beginner competitions together with PTS Sherwood.
MBF's 13 teams played well in the leagues. Unfortunately, MBF 1 had to give up the 1st division due to players getting sick. Fortunately, MBF 2 was promoted to the 1st division for the 2024-25 season. The other teams kept their league places. Hangö IK gave up their championship place and Marina Donner and Johan Pettersson moved to MBF. Thus, MBF also got a championship place for the next season and when Lassi Lehtola and Leon Viherlaiho returned and Madis Moos joined MBF to strengthen the championship team, its activities received new impetus for next year.
We organized joint training sessions for MBF players in Ruskeasuo in December 2023 and the closing ceremony of the "super king" season in May 2024 in the new hall of the Stadium.
Getting new juniors involved in table tennis
MBF made a significant investment in getting new juniors involved in table tennis. In cooperation with the City of Helsinki, MBF held 2023 hour-long table tennis trials at the Ruskeasuo Ball Sports Hall during the 24-2700 season. A total of 115 students from XNUMX classes participated in them (see below).
Mika Räsänen, Ella Kellow, Taneli Keinonen and Lauri Hakaste led these experiments. Sebastian Abaijon-Nurmisuo, Maria Girlea and Samuli Soine were involved a few times. The aim was to spread the sport and get new juniors to MBF. Unfortunately, this investment did not bring new juniors, at least not immediately, which was quite a disappointment for everyone involved.1

MBF organized the Helsinki Youth Center's "Stadin table tennis King and Queen" event in December 2023. Jenna Dela Fuente and Sam Londen were crowned Stadin table tennis King and Queen. Although the Youth Centers were quite buzzing with table tennis qualifiers, unfortunately only about a dozen young people came to the event itself. The goal was also to get new, slightly older juniors involved in the activities, but unfortunately this was not successful.
Member development
The number of MBF members has increased in 2023-24. We have strived to provide a comprehensive and interesting trilingual (Swedish, Finnish and English) operating environment for everyone interested in table tennis. MBF is an international table tennis club with players from 22 countries.
Unfortunately, during the financial year, many members stopped playing or moved elsewhere. By marketing our club and collaborating with local schools and associations, we managed to gain new members and spread interest in the sport: MBF MBF had 2023 members at the end of May 115, of which 31 were juniors. MBF is the largest table tennis club in Helsinki. However, the number of junior members in particular needs to be increased in order for the club to be successful in the coming years.
Administration
Matti was elected Chairman of the Board at the annual meeting. Vainio and Jon Eriksson, Måns Holmberg, Ildiko Kadar, Sonja Londen, Andrei Räisänen and Kristian Tienhaara as members. Berndt Johansson was elected as the auditor. Göran Paul was elected as the reserve. At its meeting on 7.9.2023 September 9, the Board elected Måns Holmberg as vice-chairman, Jon Eriksson as secretary and Risto Karvonen as treasurer. The Board met XNUMX times and held working meetings, especially in connection with the organization of competitions.
During 2023, MBF also acquired competition shirts and additional practice shirts, which were sold to members at cost price. MBF acquired 30 additional beginner rackets to make it easier for new players to try out table tennis.
Communication
MBF has actively used sporttis.net website for membership registration, training and table reservation-the calendar for maintenance and communication with members. MBF on the website mbf.fi and Facebook has had a lot of visitors.
Economic
In 2023-24, MBF's finances have been stable. In 2022-23, 17 euros of the grants received for junior activities were used as planned for junior coaching, including the establishment of two new junior groups, family ping-pong, organizing ping-pong trials, the Youth Centers' "Stadium Pingpong King and Queen" event, supporting the coach in our junior competitions, and purchasing balls and beginner rackets.
We have actively applied for grants and managed our finances responsibly. In spring 2023, MBF received a total of 21 euros in support from the City of Helsinki, the Urlus Foundation, and the Ministry of Education and Culture. The funds will be used during the financial period 000-1.6.2024.
The result for the financial period was -8,24 euros.

Action plan 1.6.2025 – 31.5.2026
Objectives
Good and developing junior activities are traditionally the main goal of MBF. Our goal is to recruit 15 new juniors to MBF activities during the year – at the end of the financial year, there would be 65 junior members. Our goal is also to offer a variety of activities to adult members who enjoy table tennis and to recruit 15 new adult players to our club.
The goal is to achieve medal positions in the Finnish Championship competitions for juniors, adults and seniors. Specific goals are to be among the top four in the Finnish Championship series and to organize memorable Finnish Championships for 12-13 year olds as well as a good-natured and competitively high-quality Pongfinity Cup.
Coaching, recruitment and camp activities
We continue to invest in recruiting the youngest children aged 7-12 from both Swedish and Finnish-speaking schools in cooperation with the City of Helsinki. We organize table tennis summer camps in Ruskeasuo for 70 girls and boys aged 7-12, and we also aim to get new enthusiastic young people involved in the club's activities.
MBF received support from the Ministry of Education and Culture (OKM). “Start table tennis!” project, with the support of the Urlus Foundation and the City of Helsinki, camp activities are being further developed, including by holding MBF's own junior camps and a "mimi camp" in cooperation with other clubs in the Helsinki region. MBF juniors also participate in camps organized by others — especially FTTA.
MBF organizes an advanced junior coaching group on Wednesdays in cooperation with PT Espoo, TiP-70 and PTS Sherwood. The activities of the Finnish Hobby Model will be expanded to five hours a week: the new groups will train at the Olympic Stadium and the German School. Some of the coaching will be organized as joint Coaching for advanced adults and juniors. The intention is also to continue family ping-pong. MBF's own supervised junior coaching classes total 13 hours a week and 3 hours of coaching for adult enthusiasts.
Competitive activity
MBF aims to be among the top four in the championship series, to rise back to the 1st division and to keep two teams in the 2nd division. The goal is also to raise one team from the 3rd division to the second. For our juniors, participating in division matches is an important way to practice table tennis. In total, MBF has about 17 teams in the series from the 6th division to the championship series.
The goal is to win medals – including championships – in the Finnish championships for adults, juniors and seniors. The club will continue to support the competitive activities of juniors and Finnish championship players in the Finnish championships.
Together with PTS Sherwood and PT Espoo, MBF will organize four beginner competitions during the financial year. The competition to be held in August 2025 will also be a pilot competition for Helsinki primary schools.
Inspired by the Pongfinity Cup organized by MBF in February 2025, which attracted a lot of positive attention, we will organize it again in May 2026. The aim is to increase the number of competitors from 230 to around 300. The Finnish Junior Championships for 12 and 13 year olds will be organized together for the first time. MBF wants to make them a particularly memorable junior event.
Social activities
The club activities offer our members the opportunity to meet each other and practice. During the activity period, we will continue “Kingis"practice games as well as MBF's joint coaching sessions and competitions, in which everyone can participate.
The club's activities are guided by a clear hobby and competition path and the values of MBF. During the year, MBF will develop its operations so that harassment does not occur in any form in its activities. This work is led by a harassment coordinator.
Communication
The renewed MBF website (mbf.fi) helps MBF communicate multilingually. The integration of communication with social media will be improved during the year. Feedback is requested on coaching and camp activities as well as the organization of competitions.
Equipment
MBF will continue to sell training shirts and plans to purchase branded competition shirts and uniforms with the MBF logo for all players at their own expense. If necessary, MBF will purchase more training rackets.
Administration
MBF's operations have expanded and will continue to expand. Therefore, it has hired a part-time club coordinator from June 2025. His/her performance will be evaluated in November 2025.
The rules are supplemented with regard to the powers of a part-time employee hired to manage the club.
We will continue to modernize and streamline the administration of MBF, using, among other things, the improved communication opportunities offered by the renewed website. The functions of the web-based management system (sporttis.net) will continue to be utilized for communication between members (e-mail, newsletter). Sporttis.net also supports MBF's coaching activities.
Economic

Annual Report 1.6.2024-31.5.2025
Overview
MBF has had a successful and even historic year of operations.
We organized the first Pongfinity Cup international competition in table tennis history, with participants from 40 different countries. We were able to play in the championship series again after a ten-year break and managed to retain our place in the series. We organized three beginner competitions with PTS Sherwood. We have offered high-quality coaching to girls and boys as well as adults.
In terms of games, the year went well. Marina Donner's three-time European Championship in the 40-year-old category and her fifth Finnish Championship, as well as the junior championships of Lassi Lehtola and Kamilla Kadari and the 40-year-old Finnish Championship of Ildiko Kadari were the highlights of 2024-25.
During the financial year we gained 29 new members (10 adults and 19 juniors). At the end of May 2025, there were a total of 144 active players in MBF.
We organized three summer camps in Ruskeasuo and two super camps, as well as a mini camp in Karjaa. Our junior activities also expanded — we led two groups within the framework of the Finnish Hobby Model. In the 2025-26 operating season, junior activities are growing promisingly.
Training
We regularly coached young people and adults during the financial year. Mika Räsänen, Sebastian Abaijon-Nurmisuo and Ibrahim Sen coached girls and boys aged 7-17 on Mondays at the Olympic Stadium and on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays in Ruskeasuo. Sisu Sammalkorpi and Onni Farin were assistant coaches. MBF tried to organize after-school table tennis on Wednesdays from 14-15 pm led by Mika Räsänen. In addition, we organized Hobby Finland Model coaching for two 3-6 graders on Wednesdays. Our six advanced juniors participated in training on Wednesdays in Ruskeasuo with the juniors of TiP-70, PT Espoo and PTS Sherwood and on Thursdays in Tuulimäki with the juniors of PT-Espoo. MBF girls held separate training sessions with the girls of PT Espoo and PTS Sherwood every other Friday led by Mika Räsänen.
During the financial year, we updated our junior groups using the MBF's hobby path classification. The goal was to provide more advanced players with their own training sessions and the beginner group with their own. The aim was to make the group sizes more suitable and thus improve the quality of coaching.

We also held a “mimmie” coaching camp in Karjaa in April 2025, led by Katja Kohonen and Johan Kratz, and MBF’s own camp in Karjaa in December 2014 and April 2025. In the summer of 2024, we organized three EasySport table tennis summer camps for the city of Helsinki in Ruskeasuo. There were a total of 70 beginner and slightly more advanced players. Some of them came to MBF after the summer camps to continue their table tennis hobby.
Sebastian Abaijon-Nurmisuo has coached 40 players in popular adult groups on Monday and Thursday evenings. The activities have expanded and it has been a pleasure to see the development of many adults who came as beginners – some are already playing in the 3rd division.
Competitions, series and events
My competitions
Pongfinity Cup 2025
MBF organized the Pongfinity Cup competitions for the first time in February 2025 Matti VainioUnder the leadership of Måns Holmberg, Jon Eriksson, Thomas Hallbäck, Riku Solapuro and with the help of the entire MBF membership. A total of 230 players from 40 different countries participated in the competition.

By organizing the Pongfinity Cup competitions, MBF made history in Finnish table tennis. With a 'get-together' event on Friday evening, where the Pongfinity special art table created by Kjell Andersén was unveiled, and a Youtube video shoot on Saturday evening, where all the tournament players together created the world's largest table tennis bouncing competition, the Pongfinity Cup was much more than just table tennis competitions.

The event was held in a very good spirit and the feedback was very positive. MBF plans to make the Pongfinity Cup a tradition and organize the competition annually in the future. MBF juniors, Kamilla Kadar (9 years old) and Lassi Lehtola (16 years old) won double championships in the Pongfinity Cup by winning the girls' 10 and 14-year-old and boys' 16 and 18-year-old categories.
Three beginner competitions
MBF and PTS Sherwood organized three beginner competitions in August and November 2024 and May 2025 for a total of over a hundred children and young people. The cooperation with PTS Sherwood is exemplary. Beginner competitions are an important first step for young players to fully participate in table tennis.
MBF members were actively involved in beginner competitions[1]The November 2024 beginner competitions were probably the largest competitions for beginner children and young people that have been organized in Finland so far.
MBF students were successful in competitions
MBF players successfully participated in several international, national and regional table tennis competitions in 2024-25. In addition to the medals they won, the juniors' enthusiasm for training was clearly visible at the competitions.
Marina Donner won the European Championships in women's doubles, doubles and mixed doubles for the 40-year-olds. This great achievement was also fueled by Jorma Lahtinen's bronze in men's doubles for the 50-year-olds.

Marina Donner won the Finnish Women's Singles Championship for the fifth time with her strong forehand spin. She also won the Finnish Women's Doubles Championship with Maria Girlea (PT-Jyväskylä). This was an incredible achievement considering that Marina was unable to train for three months before the championships due to a shoulder injury. Lassi Lehtola won the Finnish Championship bronze medal in mixed doubles with Maria Girlea.
Kamilla Kadar won the Finnish championship for 13-year-old girls, came in bronze in the 15-year-old girls' singles and silver in the 15-year-old doubles together with Ge Anne Quinal. Last year's mixed doubles championship with Sisu Sammalkorvi was changed to bronze. In the girls' 13-year-old team competition, MBF's Kamilla and Paola Noso won bronze and in the 15-year-old team competition, silver. In the 15-year-old boys' doubles, Sisu's good teamwork with Smash's Hai Hoang Nhat Nguyen brought bronze.
In the 12- and 18-year Finnish Championships, MBF took first place in the medal table with four gold medals. Kamilla Kadar (12-year) and Lassi Lehtola (18-year) were dominant in their categories, winning both the singles and team Finnish championships. Kamilla also took bronze in the girls' 18-year category. In the 12-year team competition, Paola Noso Estrada won gold with Kamilla. The MBF 18-year championship team included Sam Londen and Leon Viherlaiho complemented Lassi. Linus Lundström and Luca Solapuro took bronze in the boys 12-year-old category. In addition, Lassi and Leon won silver in the boys 18-year-old doubles and Kamilla and Sisu Sammalkorpi won bronze in the 18-year-old mixed doubles.
Ildiko Kadar won the Finnish Championship gold medal in the 40-year-old women's category and Peter Eriksson won bronze in the 80-year-old category. Ildiko also won gold in the 40-year-old mixed doubles with Mika Räsänen (PT Espoo). Jorma Lahtinen placed third in both the men's 55-year-old singles category and the men's 50-year-old doubles with Janne Jokinen (PT-75).
Peter Eriksson won silver in the 80-year-old men's TOP championships. Matti Vainio and Thomas Hallbäck took bronze in the men's 60-year-old Finnish Championship team competition.
At the Finlandia Junior Open, Kamilla Kadar won silver in both the 2008 and 2010 girls' categories. Paola Noso came third in the 2012 girls' category.
Ildiko Kadar won the 2014-25 women's individual GP series. The best in the junior series N14 in the past season was Kamilla Kadar.
In addition to the above, MBF was successful in national competitions. MBF players played particularly well in the Star competitions. MBF was the most successful club in the competitions with 33 gold, 19 silver and 54 bronze medals.
Series games
MBF had a total of 2024 division teams in the 2025-17 season, the most in Finland. They played league games from the 6-divar to the championship series. MBF returned to the championship series after a ten-year break. Marina Donner, Lassi Lehtola, Madis Moos, Johan Pettersson and Leon Viherlaiho fought their way to fifth place, thus retaining their league position. Unfortunately, MBF was relegated from Division 1, missing out on a playoff spot by just one point. The teams in Division 2 managed to hold onto their league position, but unfortunately three of the teams in Division 3 were relegated.
Events and other activities
We organized the closing ceremonies for the autumn and spring seasons for MBF players at the Olympic Stadium. First, we played an internal club “super king”, which was won by Lassi Lehtola in the autumn and Ibrahim Sen in the spring, and then we went for pizza with our parents at Mamma Rosa.

In autumn 2024 and spring 2025, we held 18 “family ping-pong” coaching events on Saturdays in Ruskeasuo and Tuulimäki together with PT Espoo. Around 80 children and 80 parents participated in them at different times (there were 5-6 families at one event).
MBF participated in the Children's Fair together with the Table Tennis Association in April 2025. Such events bring very good public visibility to the sport and MBF as a local club was actively involved. Unfortunately, the event did not bring any new members to the club.
On Mondays and Fridays, MBF adults have been enthusiastically playing against each other in “kingis” tournaments.
Getting new juniors involved in table tennis
MBF has held table tennis lessons for 3rd-6th graders in collaboration with the City of Helsinki for two table tennis groups under the Finnish Hobby Model on Wednesdays from 15-16 pm and 16-17 pm. The coaches were Mika Räsänen and Taneli Keinonen. 48 schoolchildren have attended the HSM lessons, some of whom also participated in the MBF and PTS Sherwood beginner competitions.
In the summer of 2024, MBF organized three EasySport table tennis summer camps for the City of Helsinki in Ruskeasuo for a total of 70 beginner and slightly more advanced players. A few of them joined MBF after the camp.
The MBF Pongfinity Cup project was also a significant investment in getting new juniors involved in table tennis. The event attracted a lot of attention and was a success, which contributed to the recognition of the sport.
MBF organized five school visits for one hundred students in Ruskeasuo in the spring of 2025.
As a new activity, MBF organized after-school ping-pong in January and February on Wednesdays from 14-15 pm, led by Mika Räsänen. Unfortunately, the number of participants was lower than expected, so we ended the experiment at the end of February.
Membership development
The number of MBF members increased by 29 during the financial year. We have strived to provide a comprehensive, interesting and harassment-free trilingual (Swedish, Finnish and English) operating environment for all those interested in table tennis. MBF is an international table tennis club with players from 22 countries.

By marketing our club and collaborating with local schools and associations, we managed to gain new members and spread interest in the sport: at the end of the operating season, MBF had 144 members, of which 50 were juniors. MBF is the largest table tennis club in Helsinki in terms of membership and the largest table tennis club in Finland in terms of the number of licensed players. It is the only club operating in Ruskeasuo that has junior activities. Increasing the number of junior players is key to the club's success.
Administration
At the annual meeting on August 19.8.2024, XNUMX, Matti was elected Chairman of the Board. Vainio and members Jon Eriksson, Ildiko Kadar, Sonja Londen, Jarkko Lundström, Andrei Räisänen and Riku Solapuro. Berndt Johansson was elected as the operations auditor. Göran Paul was elected as the reserve. At its meeting on 19.8.2024 August 11, the Board elected Sonja Londen as secretary, Risto Karvonen will continue as financial manager and Satu Karvonen as accountant. The Board met XNUMX times and held many planning meetings in connection with the organization of the Pongfinity Cup.
Communication
MBF has actively used the sporttis.net website to maintain the member register, training and table reservation calendar, and to communicate with members.
MBF's website was renewed in early 2025 with a grant from the City of Helsinki. Samu Pietilä's renewed website became clearer and was also better aimed at guardians. At the same time, we also introduced a new table reservation system to improve communication between members regarding table use. We posted more frequently on Facebook and also used paid advertisements in connection with summer camps.
We created and published MBF's hobby path and MBF's values: joy of playing, fair play and goal-orientedness. We also created guidelines for junior training based on MBF's values.
Economic
During the financial period, MBF's income and expenses increased by 50 percent (€30) from the previous year as a result of expanded operations. In 000-2022, the €23 grants received for junior activities were used as planned. These included, among others, coaching costs for three junior groups, family ping-pong, organizing ping-pong trials, weekend camps, beginner competitions, practice balls, and organizing the Pongfinity Cup event. We received less income from the Pongfinity Cup than budgeted. On the other hand, "Friends of MBF" helped with the expenses of the Finnish Championship team, which were higher than budgeted.
We have actively applied for grants and managed our finances responsibly. In spring 2025, MBF received a total of €18 in support from the City of Helsinki, the Urlus Foundation, and the Ministry of Education and Culture for junior activities in the 500-2025 season. It is applying for other grants – including an event grant from the City of Helsinki for the Pongfinity Cup – during the 26-2025 financial year.
The result for the financial year 2024-25 was -1890,08 euros. The Board proposes that the loss for the financial year of 1890,08 euros be recorded in the deficit account of previous financial years.
