Equality and non-discrimination plan

1. Starting points and goal
The goal of Mejlans bollförening rf (MBF) is to promote equal and fair sports by providing a safe and inclusive environment for all enthusiasts, regardless of background.
The club is committed to preventing discrimination and harassment and to actively promoting the participation of underrepresented groups.
2. Current status
The club has approximately 150 members, including:
- children and young people 55 (girls 5)
- adults 95 (women 5)
Key development areas:
- low participation rates for girls and women
- emphasis on male participants
- low proportion of women in coaching and guidance positions
3. Objectives (2026–2028)
The club sets the following measurable goals:
- Increasing the number of girls from 5 → at least 15
- Increasing the number of women from 5 → at least 15
- Increasing female representation among coaches and instructors to at least 30%
- 100% of members feel the operation is safe (annual survey)
- Equal access to training sessions for all groups
4. Measures
To achieve its goals, the club will implement the following measures:
Increasing participation
- At least two low-threshold pilot events will be organized annually, specifically targeted at girls
- Collaborating with schools in the Helsinki area
- Expanding beginner groups with new enthusiasts
Coaching and leadership
- Recruiting and encouraging women into coaching and mentoring positions
- Offering orientation and support to new instructors
- Utilizing training to promote equality and non-discrimination
Safe operating environment
- Rules for a safe operating environment are followed and, if necessary, developed
- I make sure that the membership knows who the safety and harassment coordinator is.
- We follow a procedure for handling harassment situations.
Communication
- Three languages are used in communication (Finnish, Swedish and English)
- Maintaining the visibility of female and girl players
- Informing the membership about MBF's values and operating methods in appropriate contexts
5. Monitoring and evaluation
- The achievement of goals is monitored annually through a member survey or in connection with the annual meeting.
- The results of the member survey will be discussed by the board and with the membership. The measures will be recorded in the action plan.
- The equality and non-discrimination plan is updated every three years.
6. Effectiveness
The measures will increase the participation of girls and women in particular, strengthen an equal operating culture, and improve the accessibility of the hobby.
The club promotes equality in sports at the local level and serves as an example of an inclusive sports club.
