This safety plan is finalized for every major event organized by MBF, mainly for the table tennis competitions held in Ruskeasuo.

2. Objective

The aim of the safety plan is to:

  • prevent accidents and dangerous situations
  • ensure the safety of participants, officials and the public
  • to direct operations in accident and emergency situations

The safety manager is responsible for implementing the plan and following the instructions.

4. Risk assessment and management

Possible risks:

  • Slips and falls (floor, cables)
  • Bat or ball injuries
  • Colliding with other players or furniture
  • Overload and stress injuries
  • Accidents requiring first aid
  • Fire or other general emergency
  • Children disappearing at a public event

Preventive measures:

  • Players and participants will be given safety instructions
  • The playing area is kept clean. 
  • The playing area is kept barrier-free, including separate routes when possible.
  • Cables are taped or shielded
  • Adequate lighting
  • The responsibilities of guardians or supervisors for children are clearly defined. 

5. First aid and accidents

At the event venue (at the janitor's office in Brown) there is first aid kit, where:

  • Patches
  • Disinfectant and cotton swabs
  • Gauze, tape and scissors 
  • Cold pack

There is a defibrillator at the scene (in front of the Brown Guard booth) for treating sudden arrhythmias in cardiac arrest situations. 

  • A first aid officer will be on site throughout the event.
  • In serious situations, ask the janitor to call 112
  • An internal club report will be made on accidents if necessary.

6. Action in emergency situations

Accident or illness

  1. Pause if necessary
  2. Provide first aid
  3. If necessary, ask the janitor to call an ambulance. 112
  4. Guide rescue personnel to the scene

Fire

  1. Pause the event
  2. Make sure the caretaker has called the emergency number 112
  3. Make sure everyone leaves calmly via the nearest exit.
  4. Meeting at an agreed location (Ruskeasuotta sand field)
  5. Do not re-enter without permission from the authorities.

Disorderly conduct

  • Officials intervene calmly in the situation
  • If necessary, remove the person causing the disturbance.
  • In serious cases, contact the authorities or ask the caretaker to do it.

7. Premises safety

  • Exit routes are marked and unobstructed.
  • Location of fire extinguishers and first aid equipment known
  • Game tables firmly in place
  • Safe grandstands and waiting areas

8. Insurance

MBF does not have insurance for events. Participants are recommended to take out their own accident insurance.

9. Communication

Safety instructions are repeated:

  • before the event
  • at the beginning of the event
  • if necessary during the event

The officers have phones in use.
