MBF won the Finnish Championship regular season
MBF led the Finnish Table Tennis Championship from the beginning of the autumn until the last round of the spring and eventually won the series with a clear point difference ahead of PT Espoo.
– The series victory was practically secured in the first match on Sunday when we beat our worst rival PT Espoo with a clear score of 5-1, says team manager Thomas Hallbäck.

The man who was guaranteed a surprisingly clear victory was Leon, who celebrated his 19th birthday. Viherlaiho who clearly reached his career best by beating both Mika Räsänen and Lauri Hakaste. The opponents' list rankings in Finland are 12th and 14th, respectively. Viherlaiho in turn is found in position 29.
Thanks to the victory, the gap to Espoo widened to four points in the series, and this difference remained the same until the end, as both teams ended the series with one 4-3 win and one 3-4 loss.
PT-75 was too difficult an opponent this time, thanks to a strong performance by Otto Tennilä. Tennilä beat our number one player Lassi Lehtola and Madis Moos. Tennilä also came close to deciding the doubles, but our pair of Moos and Johan Pettersson won a thrilling five-set match by saving several match points in both the fourth (15-13) and fifth (17-15) sets.



The last match against Oulu was fast moving towards a clean victory, before the opponents fought for a series point by coming from a 0-4 deficit to a narrow 3-4 defeat.
– My own game was terrible today, but the main thing is that we won the series, says Lassi Lehtola, who was the best player of those who went through the full regular season, playing all 28 games, with a match ratio of 22-6.
The Finnish Championship will culminate in the final tournament in Ruskeasuo on April 25, where the semi-finals, bronze medal match and final will be played. The other final teams are PT Espoo, PT Jyväskylä and PT-75. from Tampere.
