Invitation to all beginners to the PTS Sherwood and MBF beginner competitions in Kerava on 25.4.
Registration ends on Sunday, April 19, 2026.
The competition is intended for children and adults who are just starting out in table tennis. Separate competition classes will be organized for both of them during the day.

The aim is that many energetic table tennis players from MBF and its table tennis groups at Saksalainen, Franskainen and Meilahti primary schools, as well as the Meilahti Tennis Centre, will come along to try out what fun competitions can be like. Hopefully, many parents will come along to support this happy family event.
MBF coach Ibrahim Sen is involved as team manager.
The player is at the beginning of their playing career or has already played a little in competitions. The rating limit for competitions is a maximum of approximately 750 points on the day of the competition. Players will be divided into appropriate groups in the competition according to their skill levels and age groups at the decision of the organizer. The aim is to organize one or more classes for girls.
For children, the age limit is a maximum of 15 years old in 2026. This means that a child born in 2011 can still participate in the children's category in these competitions.

The aim is to organize several matches for each child in a pool-style competition.
All beginner players over the age of 15 who have no rating or a rating of approximately 750 points are allowed to play in the adult category. Children under the age of 15 are also allowed to participate in the adult categories if they wish.
It is possible that the competition will also use continuation games after the pools. The “best of five” game format will be used in the categories. Decisions on the division of categories and the method of play in each category will be made by the organizer as soon as possible after the registration period has ended.

The competitions are organized as separate categories: singles and doubles. Players can choose to play only in the singles category, only in the doubles category, or both in the singles and doubles categories. Prizes are awarded separately in both categories.
For doubles categories, players can find their own playing partner or ask the tournament organizer to arrange a doubles pair according to their availability.
Clubs are expected to teach players the rules of doubles (e.g. serving rules, scoring, and serving order) before the competition. This will help significantly in the running of the competition.
PTS Sherwood Junior Cup
In this competition, children representing different clubs compete for the trophy “PTS Sherwoodin Junnu Cup” to be awarded to the best club. The competition between the clubs is decided by the success of the players. In each singles and doubles category, the winner receives points according to the number of participants in that category, the second-place finisher receives one point less, the third-place finisher receives two points less, and so on, so that the last participant in the category also receives one point for their club. If there are several pools in a category, and only the winners of these pools play in the next games, the organizer decides the amount of points to be given to the other participants. At the end of the day, the points received by the different clubs are added up. If the same pair represents two different clubs in the doubles category, the points received by the players are divided in half for both represented clubs.
