Marina Donner and Ildiko Kadar won for the MBF the club’s first-ever Finnish Championship gold in the team cup held in Leppävaara. In the final, MBF defeated PT Espoo 3–1, and in her joy Donner threw herself onto the floor to celebrate the victory after a tough weekend.

I felt Saturday’s matches in my body, but luckily my shoulder didn’t feel any worse,” says Donner, who has recovered from an injury that forced her into a longer break around the turn of the year.

The doubles match against PT Espoo was a thriller, where opponents Aleksandra Titievskaja and Polina Levkina earned three match points in the fourth set before Donner and Kadar managed to turn the set into a victory.

The men’s team, consisting of Lassi Lehtola, Johan Pettersson and Leon Viherlaiho, unfortunately suffered a narrow defeat in the quarterfinals against Smash. MBF’s number one player, Lassi Lehtola, had two match points in the decisive fifth set against Juho Kahlos, but lost the match — a win would have opened the way to the semifinals. Smash advanced to the final, where they lost to PT Espoo.
