MBF's mimmi training became a joy pill for the Helsinki metropolitan area

  • May, Sat, 2025

In the summer of 2024, MBF established a “mimmi group” and asked Mika Räsänen to lead it every other Friday in Ruskeasuo. We invited all the mimmi from the Helsinki metropolitan area to join. Ten mimmi from MBF, PT Espoo, PTS Sherwood and Tip-70 kicked the ball in really popular practices.

The two-hour training sessions included warm-ups, pattern training, robot training, and playing sets. The training sessions were always in a good mood and the players had fun.

The Mimmi were glowing

“The best thing is to train and play with people other than your club mates. Mika is a really nice coach and the training sessions are varied. It's always nice to come to Mimmi's training sessions and it's good that the training sessions last 2 hours and not less.”

“The training is the best, everything is good in the mimmi training. It's really important to have other girls in the group. This group has been great!”

“I really enjoyed everything about training. It's great to be able to train with players of the same level.”

“Good coaching, new workouts and nice workout buddies.”

MBF would like to organize mimmi trainings next year in the same style as the “Mejlans-Espoo-Tikkurila-Kerava” (METK) trainings in the Helsinki Metropolitan Area led by Mika on Wednesdays, with the participating clubs sharing coaching costs and table rentals. MBF received support from the Ministry of Education, Culture and Sports for mimmi trainings for the year 2025-26.

"The idea for the mimmi group and camps came from discussions I had with Ildiko Kadari a couple of years ago. We wanted to bring more mimmi energy into the training and increase the quantity and quality of training for girls and young women. I hope that the mimmi training has contributed to increasing training motivation.” – Matt Vainio

Ildiko Kadar organized the training sessions and Mika Räsänen was responsible for the coaching. The last training sessions of the spring were held on 23.5. MBF is grateful for the support of the Ministry of Education and Culture for club activities for mimmi training.

When asked if we would continue in the fall, everyone answered “YES!”
