Points at the start of the Finnish Championship

MBF picked up points on their return to the Finnish Championship after a nine-year hiatus. The team managed to turn a 2-3 deficit into a 4-3 draw against last year's third-placed TuKa in Oulu. It came after a successful team game, with the entire trio of Lassi Lehtola, Madis Moos and Johan Pettersson taking the wins.
In the second match against the home team OPT-86, a point or two could have been won. The team lost a close doubles match in the fifth set and a close singles match before that.
The adversity in even matches continued against the reigning champion PT-75, who won clearly 5-1. In two games, our team suffered an 11-9 defeat in the fifth set. The defeat figures were the same against PT Espoo, who did not give us a real chance to surprise. Marina Donner forced Toni Soinen to a five-set match, while Lehtola took the consolation win.
We have faced four of the toughest teams, in the three remaining games of the fall we will take full advantage, Lehtola ponders.
Next time we'll beat them., Pettersson says, reflecting on the team's goal of reaching the top four in the spring for a playoff spot.
Also Leo Viherlaiho belongs to the team.
